Wendell Ray Watterson, age 74, of Chase City passed away July 31, 2009. He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries and founder of the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association. Mr. Watterson is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ben Watterson, daughters, Lisa Watterson of California, and Eva Watterson West and husband Larry of Chase City, brothers, Douglas Watterson of Chase City and Bruce Watterson of Virginia Beach, sisters, Eve Stagg and Christine Crowe of Chase City, and Bonita Gupton of South Boston. The family will receive friends from 7:00- 8:30 pm Saturday at Wood Funeral Service. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday at Woodland Cemetery.
