Charlie Woodson “Woody” Armes, Jr. age 66, of Boydton, died September 8, 2009. He was a retired correctional officer with Baskerville Correctional Center, an Army and Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Virginia National Guard, VFW and American Legion in South Hill, and a member of Union Level Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Armes, sons and daughter-in-law, Christopher Armes, Tony and Loni Armes of Blackstone, step daughter, Jill Burch of South Hill, grandchildren, Andrew and Hannah Armes. The family will receive friends 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Boydton Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with military honors. Rev. Don Wilson will officiate. Memorials may be made to Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, PO Box 383 South Hill Va. 23970. Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is serving the family.
