Mrs. Carol Wilson Powell, 69, of Chase City, died November 1, 2009. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a retired employee of Sherwood Foods. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Lynn Powell of Creedmoor, NC, daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Jason Powell of Chase City, brother, J. B. Wilson of Richmond, sisters, Carrie Lee Fitz of Red Oak, Mildred Caknipe of Chase City, Phyllis Clem of Shenandoah, grandchildren, Kayla Tharpe, Joshua Tharpe, Sierra Powell, Christopher Powell, Brayden Powell. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 Tuesday evening at Wood Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gene Burris officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 383, South Hill, VA 23970.
