Leland J. Bowers, Sr., 64, of Chase City, died February 2, 2010. He was a retired self-employed electrical and plumbing contractor and a member of Fields United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Mae Bowers, son, L. J. Bowers of Boydton, step children, Elaine Womack and Phyllis Wilkerson of Chase City, brother, James Bowers of Boydton, half brother, Wendell Rudd and half sister, Vickie Foster, both of Henderson. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Baisey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Fields United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 25649 Highway 49, Chase City, VA 23924. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.woodfuneralservice.com. Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is serving the family.
