Wilmer Bennett White

Wilmer Bennett White, 70, of Chase City, died June 19, 2010. He was a retired employee of Mecklenburg Supply for 40 years and upon retirement, worked with Graham Hardware in Chase City. He was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was a deacon and choir member, and a former member of Chase City Jaycees. He was the son of the late William T. and Minnie C. White and was preceded in death by two brothers, Garland White and Hilton White, and a sister, Lois White. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rebecca Crump “Beckie” White, son, Michael S. White of Rocky Mount, NC, sister, Thelma W. Mason and husband Bernard, Iris W. Guthrie and husband Herbert, all of Brookneal, brother, Reginald White and wife, Joann of Phenix, sister-in-law, Thelma White of Roxboro, NC, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 Tuesday evening at Wood Funeral Service. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Bradshaw, Rev. Richard Martin and Rev. Charles Clay officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank his special caregivers, Rosemary, Shirley, Monica, and Halifax Regional Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 9040 Trottinridge Rd., Chase City, VA 23924. Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is serving the family.
