Mary Ellen Bushell Driggs of Chase City, Va. went to be with her Lord on November 12, 2014. She was born September 29, 1924 in Richmond, the daughter of the late David Arthur and Ibunious Murray Bushell. Mary Ellen was employed with Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative for 36 years serving as head of Accounting and retiring as Benefits Administrator and Loan Officer for the Employees Credit Union. Mary Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, reading, painting and writing poetry. She served as a volunteer at Community Memorial Hospital, the American Red Cross and was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Otey T. Driggs, Jr. and is survived by her children, Otey T. Driggs, III (Nancy) of Aydlett, NC; Susan Driggs Ferguson (Sherrill) of Raleigh, NC; and David Allen Driggs (Peggy) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, George Douglas Ingram (Lisa) of Clarksville, VA; Kristy Driggs Wright (James) of Wanchese, NC; Kathryn Elizabeth Driggs of Raleigh; great grandchildren, Lara-Cate and Josie Wright and Joshua and Elizabeth Yancey. She was predeceased in death by her brothers, David Arthur Bushell, Jr., Albert Murray Bushell and her sister, Elizabeth Bushell Johnson. Mary Ellen was married to J. Conrad Inge from 1988 to 2002. The family is ever indebted to Deloris McFail for the loving and special care given to their mother for the past six years. Visitation will be Sunday 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Service, Chase City. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City with interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery.
