Mrs. Sandra Elizabeth (Doub) Miller, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the age of 55.
Sandy was born to parents Betty Ann (Allen) and Bill Doub on July 4, 1963 in Richmond. She and her younger sister, Donna, grew up in the house their parents built on a street of beloved neighbors. Upon graduation from Blessed Sacrament Huguenot High School, Sandy moved to Los Angeles, California originally to pursue film production. In 1988, she married her life partner Craig E. Miller; they met through work and fell in love easily. Together they raised his daughter Melissa and their daughter Stephanie, moving back to Richmond in 1994.
Sandy loved her family deeply, cared for her cats completely and valued her friendships genuinely. Though she rarely sought customary leadership roles, Sandy was always working behind the scenes to equip and mentor others. Her paintings and photography expressed her creativity and love of travel. She found joy in time with close family and friends, laughter, watching her daughters dance and dancing herself. A lover of all things Celtic, she was a proud member of the Richmond Scottish Country Dancers. She enjoyed her work, was gifted at creating effective solutions, and cared especially for her co-workers. She appreciated castles, gardens, the symphony and film production documentaries.
Though a car crash ended her earthly life suddenly, her memory will remain always. Sandy is survived by her husband, Craig Miller; her mother, Betty Ann Dillon; and her daughters Melissa Miller and Stephanie Miller Boehles. She is preceded in death by her father William H. “Bill” Doub; sister Donna Doub Lane; and second-father William F. “Matt” Dillon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on December 3 at 12:30pm, with reception to follow. All friends and family are welcome. Internment, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richmond Scottish Country Dancers, the Henrico Humane Society or Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
