Larry J. Hite, age 75, of Chase City, and formerly of Nelson passed away January 20, 2023. He retired from Burlington Industries in Clarksville after 30 years and then continued his career with Altria Group, Inc, in Richmond, retiring in 2009. During his life, he was a member of the Clarksville Ruritan Club and was active in the Bluestone Athletic Boosters. His favorite pastime was watching and sideline coaching his beloved grandchildren in their varied extracurricular sports and activities.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Peggy Dodson Hite; son Stephen Hite (Amy); daughter, Amy Miano (Peter); sister, Sue Walker; brother-in-law, Eddie Dodson (Gay); 11 grandchildren, Lauren (Josh), Sam (Rachel), Emily (Brandon), Noel (Jennifer), Kaylee, Ruby, Laci, Anthony, Christian, Ben, and Stella; 1 great grandchild, Jameson; and several nieces and great nieces; Shelley, Jana, Brook, Ella, Kira, and Aliza; along with his extended softball family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Hite of Nelson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 23 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA, with a reception for family and friends to follow in the church fellowship hall. Visitors are also welcome at the Chase City home throughout the weekend. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Wood Funeral Service is serving the family.
