 Carol Hupp Adams Roark, 88, of Chase City, wife of John C. Roark, Jr. passed away November 1, 2015. She was the widow of Clarence “Toots” Adams, and was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth Hupp, and a brother, Henry Thomas Hupp, Jr. She was a lifetime member of The First Baptist Church, retired teacher with Mecklenburg Academy in Chase City, member of The Chase City Woman’s Club, Mary Wood Garden Club, Mecklenburg Country Club, and Mecklenburg County Farm Bureau. Carol was also the 2012 recipient of the Chase City Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. She is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy and Tom Smith of Richmond; Diana and Charles Ramsey of Chase City; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Cysie Adams of Clarksville; grandchildren, Hollie Gilman, Dawn Terrell, Ivey Blunt, Kevin Adams, Derek Adams, Hillary Elder, John Hundley Adams and Tristan Adams, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wood Funeral Service. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at The First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Cribb and Rev. Gene Burris officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
