Mrs. Louise B. Spencer, Of Victoria, VA,  passed away peacefully at Wayland Nursing Home in Keysville, Virginia on November 30, 2015 with two of her nieces, Sharon S. Ferree and Rose Mary Duffin by her side as she had always been for them.

She was the wife of Allen S. Spencer who preceded her in death on March 1, 2004. They were married Sept.7th, 1945 and enjoyed 58 years together. They both lived in High Point, N.C for many years until Allen’s retirement in 1978. During their last years in High Point, they would visit Virginia on weekends and work on the home they built in Victoria. They moved permanently to Victoria in the early 1980’s.

While living in North Carolina, Louise worked for a time at Allen Jay School but spent most of her years as a full-time homemaker. Although she and Allen were not blessed with children of their own, Mrs. Spencer was often considered an “adopted mother” by many nieces, nephews and children of friends. Her loss feels like the loss of a mother to many. She was a fantastic cook and loved to joke and “pick”. She was often Allen’s “straight man” as they pulled pranks. Even in her passing that “twinkle” in her spirit shown from deep within her eyes until her last breath.

Mrs. Spencer was a member of Cool Springs Christian Church. She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Surviving is a sister Marie Wray of Trinity, N.C.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Davis of High Point, N.C. and several nieces and nephews from North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Indiana.

Funeral services will be held  2:00 pm Wednesday at Cool Springs Christian Church, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cool Springs Christian Church Cemetery, C/O  Shannon Parker 1325 Courthouse Road, Chase City, Va. 23924.

Wood Funeral Service  is serving the family. Condolences may be expressed at www.woodfuneralservice.com.
