Otis Barrow Boyd, born March 7, 1927, died April 28, 2016 in Charleston, SC, at the age of 89. He was the husband of Alice Robertson Boyd of Chase City, and the son of the late Shelton Goode Boyd and Lelia Crowder Boyd of Clarksville.

In addition to his wife Alice, he is also survived by his children, Robert R. Boyd, II, of Atlanta Ga. and Martha Boyd Smith and son-in-law, Rev. Timothy Smith of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Brittany Smith Stockman ( Nicholas), Bethany Smith, Holly Boyd and Madison Boyd; great grandchildren, Bentley, Caroline, and Nora Stockman. Also surviving are his sisters, Elizabeth “Beth” Boyd Baker, Mary Ann Boyd Oettinger, and Joan Boyd Easley, all of Clarksville. He was preceded in death by a brother, The Hon. Robert Richard Boyd.

He was a graduate of Chase City High School and also studied at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music.  O.B. served his country in World War II and was employed by the Atlantic & Danville Railroad and the Norfolk, Franklin, & Danville Railroad until his retirement.  He and Alice made their home in Clarksville for many pleasant years.  He thoroughly enjoyed his grape arbors and listening to classical music.  He will be greatly missed by family as well as strangers, and friends in his neighborhood in Clarksville. Funeral services will be held at Ephesus United Methodist Church, West Orgainsville Road, Clarksville, on April 30, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 43. The family will receive friends in the Social Hall immediately following the service.  Lunch will be served after the service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
