John Coleman Roark, Jr., 83, of Chase City, passed away January 30, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Carol Hupp Adams Roark. He was also preceded by his parents, John C. and Myrtle Shelton Roark, sister, Jacquelin Paul, brothers, James “Buck” and Archie Roark. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a retired cattle farmer, served on Mecklenburg County Planning Commission, a board member of MacCallum More Gardens, board member of Chase City Medical Clinic and Farm Bureau, a member of Mecklenburg Country Club, a master gardener and bee keeper. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy and Tom Smith of Richmond; Diana and Charley Ramsey, of Chase City; son and daughter-in-law, David and Cysie Adams, of Clarksville, 8 grandchildren, Hollie Gilman, Dawn Terrell, Ivey Blunt, Kevin Adams, Derek Adams, Hillary Elder, John Hundley Adams, and Tristan Adams, ten great grandchildren, sisters, Jane Talley and Brenda France, both of Richmond, and Beverly Kearney, of Gloucester; twelve nieces and nephews; his special caregivers, Taylor Driggs, Helen Pulliam, Pam Price, Barbara Reese, and Kiera Torres. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 Wednesday evening at Wood Funeral Service. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Cribb and Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
