James Howard “Jimmy” Keeton, Jr., age 82 of Chase City passed away July 9, 2021. He was the son of the late James “Howard” Keeton, Sr. and Ruth Falls Keeton. Jimmy was the owner of Keeton’s Cabinet Shop where he spent many years following in his father’s footsteps as a craftsman building custom picture frames and providing furniture repair. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1962-1965. Jimmy spent many years volunteering his time with the Chase City Boy Scout Troop 7430, where he also served as Scout Master, and led his two sons to achieve the highest honor of Eagle Scout. Jimmy and his wife Mary Ellen created many family memories in Cape Hatteras fishing, camping, and hunting for seashells. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen Keeton, children, Scotty Keeton and wife Ashley, Darrell Keeton and wife, Chanel, LeAnne Mull and husband B.J.; grandchildren, Cilla, Caroline, Kaleb, Hunter, Kierstin, Riley and McKenna. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, July 18, at Woodland Cemetery with Rev. Joshua Brown officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 43. The family will receive friends at the home at 420 Mecklenburg Dr. in Chase City. The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Theresa White, April Williams, Michelle White, Samantha Smith, and Nannie Haskins, and the staff of VCU Hospice for their care.
