James Herbert Fitz, Jr. age 69, of Drakes Branch, passed away December 22, 2021. He was born in Farmville on June 25, 1952. James was preceded in death by his parents, James Herbert Fitz, Sr. and Hazel Adams Fitz. He was raised in Charlotte County, opened a business and lived in Kill Devil Hills, NC for over 10 years before returning to Charlotte County. He was the owner of Coastal Appliance in Kill Devil Hills, NC, and also Advanced Pilot Car and Transportation Services, Drakes Branch. James was also a member in good standing of St. John’s Masonic Lodge # 144 of Keysville since 2005, having served 2 terms as Past Master. He was a good friend to all who knew him and will be missed by many. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Ann (Bennington) Fitz; daughters, Rhonda Tate and Melissa Fitz; son, Brian Fitz and fiance’ Andria Kravetz; sons by marriage, Cecil Cox ( Tammy), and Vincent Cox (Linda); grandchildren, Shauna Agee (Neil), Rachel Perkins (CW), Georgiana Fitz, Madison Fitz, and Morgan Fitz; great grandchildren, Gavin Tate and Bailey Agee; sister, Nancy Winter and nephew, Ross Winter. At the request of James, there will be no public services, however the family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Wood Funeral Service is serving the family.
