Gwendolyn Kay Crowder Seamans of Chase City, VA went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 29, 2022, at age 66, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born on November 6, 1955, in South Hill, VA, she was the daughter of the late James and Lorene Crowder. Kay was a graduate of Mecklenburg Academy and shortly thereafter married Donald James Seamans on December 15, 1974. She was a dedicated employee at Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, VA in which she retired from, with more than thirty years serving many roles. Kay was also an active member of Concord Baptist Church in Chase City, VA until her illness.
Kay is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, who was her dedicated caretaker during her illness. She also leaves behind two daughters, Stephanie (Ben) Rickman of Stokesdale, NC and Sarah (Brian) Bratten of Chase City, VA who she cherished greatly. She especially enjoyed her role as “GaGa” to her grandchildren, Gavin, Kara, and Nicholas.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Chase City, VA with Pastor Woody Moore officiating. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service at 1pm in the church fellowship hall.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Tonya Carrington and the entire Hospice Team, as well as Joyce Hardy and Virginia Boyter for their devotion during Kay’s two-year cancer battle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Kay to the local Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 311, Chase City, VA 23924. Wood Funeral Service is serving the family.
