Val Jean LeIra Wilson, age 75, passed away November 28, 2023. Val was born to Archer Sanford and Elma Catherine Stanley Wilson on October 31, 1948, in Prince George County, Hopewell, Virginia. He was raised in Dutch Gap, Chester, Va. He attended Thomas Dale Elementary, moving to Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended Garfield Elementary and Glen Dell Jr. High, he graduated from South High in 1967. He then attended Utah State University, enlisted in the US Navy in January of 1968, serving on the USS Chopper, and on the USS Newport News Va. as Yeoman Crypto top clearance for admiral staff. He was discharged in 1972. He married Pamela Jean Bird in 1968. He was the father of 3 sons Shurn Lee, Kelton James, and Andrew Jay Wilson. He attended Utah Tech College with an architect degree, later Eastern Connecticut with a business degree, he was employed by the US postal service for the design and architect department for 28 years. He was a substitute teacher and retired from Juvenile Justice in Richmond VA in 2004. He was a son of the Confederate Vets and great grandson of the American Revolution. He loved to hunt and shoot; he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife; Pamela Wilson, his 3 sons; Shurn Wilson of Connecticut, Kelton Wilson (Jessica), AJ Wilson (Jeanette), 3 grandchildren; Christyn Elizabeth, Victor James Leigh and Rowan Jenna Lorelai Wilson, sister; Joy Lavern Schoenecker, multiple nieces and nephews. Val is proceeded in death by his parents, siblings, Sanford Wilson, Rena Lane, Delma Martan, Ernest L. Belvin, Archer Wilson. Services will be private. Wood Funeral Service is serving the family.
