George Hagood Fitz, Sr., 77, of Red Oak died April 18, 2013. He was retired owner of Fitz Cabinet Shop, a member of Public Fork Christian Church where he served as trustee, deacon, and president of the cemetery committee and also served in the US National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsye M. Fitz , daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Tim Royster of Boydton, son, G. H. Fitz of Red Oak, brother, Henry Fitz of Red Oak, sister, Lena Parsons of Lynchburg, grandchildren, Holly King of Chase City, T. G. Royster, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Tiffany Brame of Bullock, NC, Justin Fitz of Washington, D. C., Ethan Royster of Clarksville, and Felicia Fitz of Harrisonburg, great grandchildren, Mary-Ashley Forbes, Noah Forbes, McKinley Brame, Skyla King and Will Brame, great-great grandchild, Colton Devin. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 Saturday evening at Wood Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Public Fork Christian Church with Denis Fritz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to Public Fork Christian Church Building Fund, 1700 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Red Oak, VA 23964.
