Vernon Franklin Smith, 77, of Chase City, died September 21, 2013. He was a member of Chase City Rescue Squad for 14 years. He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Smith, his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Robert Stanton of Brandon, Mississippi, sister, Florine S. Cassada of South Boston, grandchildren, Brandy Stanton Denson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Ashley Stanton of Brandon, Mississippi, great grandson, Jaxon Denson, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Wood Funeral Service and where services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
