Jenilea Elliott Gillespie, age, 29 of Nelson, departed this life,
Tuesday, July 25, 2023. She was preceded in death by her
brother, Brian Puryear, and her aunt and uncle, Jamie “GiGi” and
Kevin Satterfield, and her aunt Carolyn Hudson. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of ten years, Matthew
“Tommy” Gillespie; their two beautiful children, Jason Todd
Gillespie, and Izabelle “Belle” Lynn Gillespie; her mother, Pam
Elliott (Larry); brother, Justin “Spec” Puryear; maternal
grandparents, WG and Janet Elliott; beloved uncle, Casey Elliott;
and a vast number of extended family and friends. Jenilea “Lea”
was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a talented
artist, who found pleasure in drawing and creating unique crafts
items to share with others. Lea was born and raised in
Mecklenburg County and was a graduate of Bluestone High
School. She had a huge heart and a gentle spirit and will be
greatly missed. Her family will receive friends from 5 – 8 pm,
Monday, July 31, 2023, at Wood Funeral Service, 28868 Hwy. 49,
Chase City, VA 23924 and at other times in the family home. A
graveside service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, August 1, 2023,
at the family cemetery on their property located at 4926 Nelson
Church Road. Nelson, VA 24580. The family wishes to thank
everyone for their amazing outpouring of love and support during
this difficult time. And also, a special thank you to Monaghan
Funeral Home in Mechanicsville, VA and to Wood Funeral Service
of Chase City for their kindness and help in handling the
arrangements. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Gillespie,
Casey Elliott, Christoffar Hodge, Alfredo Gonzalez, Austin Allison,
and David Martin, with Jason Gillespie and Justin “Spec” Puryear
as honorary pallbearers.
