Bobby Dale (B. Dale) Wilson of Chase City suddenly left family and friends on December 18, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Mr. Wilson was born on September 2, 1936, in Chase City, the son of the late Bobby Lee and Florence Forbes Wilson. He attended Chase City High School and joined the United States Air Force in 1954, where he served honorably until 1976. He attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Assignments took him to New York, Kansas Florida, Oklahoma, Maryland, Iceland, England, and Spain. Mr. Wilson received numerous awards and decorations during his military career including the Air Force Meritorious Service Metal with Bronze Star, and the Commendation Medal with Bronze Star. He was recognized as Outstanding Administrator for the United States Air Forces, Europe in 1973.

While stationed at RAF Greenham Common in Berkshire, England, Mr. Wilson met his wife to be, Jenifer E. King. She came to the United States in 1957 when they were married. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 64 years, his son Stephen Matthew Wilson, and his sister-in-law Barbara Wilson, of Valentines, Va,. and several nieces and nephews both here and abroad.

During his civilian career, Mr. Wilson was General Manager of F-A Automotive Parts Warehouse for 28 years. In that capacity he took great pleasure in providing many young men and women their first employment, and gave them experience and training that led to more advanced positions. Mr. Wilson considered himself to be a “people person”, and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with employees and customers.

Mr. Wilson loved his hometown of Chase City where he contributed time to civic and social organizations. He served on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, the Mecklenburg Country Club, the Postal Committee, the Chase City Medical Board of Directors, Chase City Industrial Development, and Chairmen of the Main Street Revitalization Project. In 2000 he was selected Citizen of the Year.
